First Mail Day for 2017

I have been inactive with postcrossing for the past couple of months. The last time I went to the local post office was when I mailed a number of Christmas cards before 2016 ended. Now I am back to mail a couple of postcards and I cannot wait for them to reach their respective destinations and bring joy to their recipients.

These are all direct swaps as it has been ages since I was at postcrossing.com requesting for official cards to send. But since summer is here, I might have some free time to write more cards so I might just be requesting to send a bunch of cards very soon.

Here’s the list of cards I recently mailed:

  1. Mount Banahaw ~ M. Drnovsek, Slovenia
  2. Papemelroti Jeepney ~ D. Gonzales, NY
  3. Mayon Volcano ~ B. Matejkova, Czech Republic
  4. Christmas Postcard 2pcs ~ D. Gonzales, NY
  5. Christmas Postcard ~ L. Tobias, PH
  6. Christmas Postcard ~ F. Van Cleeff, Holland
  7. Philippine GF Card ~ E. Septhriani, Indonesia
  8. Christmas Postcard ~ R. Neehaul, Mauritius
  9. Phippine GF Card ~ K. Pribylova, Czech Republic
  10. Kesong Puti card ~ N. Harmoko, Indonesia

My Prize From A Postcrossing Giveaway Is Here!

Postcards and anything postcrossing-related is always a delight to receive in the mail!

I was lucky to win a giveaway in Postcrossing Philippines last month and it sure put a smile on my face whe I got to receive my prizes! Lookie! Some of these cards are blanked while some are used cards {official Postcrossing.com, in fact}. I love the cathedral card as well as the one from Japan. I also adore the big PH cards that include a couple of my favorites ~ tarsier of Bohol and Miag-ao Church of Iloilo {which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site}, which I shall be sharing with my sister {who is more addicted to postcrossing these days!}. I will also be sharing the University of Sto. Tomas cards to some members of our Facebook group. The package also included a pink clear folder for stashing postcards as well as 2 pieces of Miss World Megan Young stamps {Php30 denomination}, which will be handy when I send an envelope one of these days since I do not really collect stamps. I find it a joy to send them to postcrossing friends and put a smile on their faces! šŸ™‚

Oh well, I am slacking in postcrossing these days and I am still contemplating whether I should request cards from Postcrossing.com or participate in an upcoming local swap in our group. I will try to decide after reading all aboutĀ reason 7 MF.

How’s your postcrossing hobby so far and what lovely surprises did you receive from the mail lately? Do share in a comment below, right? šŸ™‚

New Year’s Day Postcard 2017

One of the things that I look forward to in postcrossing is receiving lovely cards from Japan. It seems like the country got the lion share of everything kawaii {did you know that even sewer covers are a thing of beauty in this country?!}.

For a while now, I have been getting these beautiful New Year’s Day postcards from a friend in Fukushima. She sends the most colorful and beautiful cards. For 2017’s Year of the Rooster, she sent me this lovely rooster card. Ain’t she a pretty?

Did you know that it is customary for Japanese people to send New Year’s Day postcards? In fact, the end ofĀ December and the beginning of January are the busiest times for the Japanese post offices as people send nengajōĀ to their friends and relatives. According to Wikipedia, the original purpose of this tradition was to give faraway friends and relatives tidings of themselves and their immediate family and tell others whom they did not often meet that they were alive and well.

Japanese people send these postcards so that they arrive on 1 January. The post office guarantees to deliver the greeting postcards on 1 January if they are posted within a time limit, from mid-December to near the end of the month and are marked with the word nengajō. To deliver these cards on time, the post office usually hires students part-time to help deliver the letters.

It was a beautiful tradition, right, something that every postcrosser will appreciate. I sure loveĀ the thought that went into sending this colorful card to me. Thank you so much, Mommy Clang, and I sure hope you got the Christmas card I sent soon.

Meanwhile, I am getting a bunch of cards ready to be posted on my next post office visit. Tradition or not, I would love to help keep snail mail alive in the Philippines with my little contribution. I will be preparing my postcards as soon as I am done writing all about theĀ guitar center virginia.

Happy New Year to all! May this year brings us many surprises in the mail and more reasons to travel and explore the world! ^_^

Mail Day ~ 25 October, 2016

Postcrossing.com, postcards, official Postcrossing.com cards

I have been on a hiatus of some sorts with my postcrossing hobby. I don’t get to swap and send as many cards as I would love to for the past few months now. I just got busy with one thing too many, I guess.

Last month, I managed to mail a number of postcards that’s been long overdue. I sure hope their recipients get them real soon. Here is the list of the card I sent that day:

  1. V. Lankerd, USA ~ Barasoain Church
  2. M. Ming, Singapore ~ Barasoain Church
  3. M. Arai, Japan ~ Barasoain Church
  4. A. Celik, Turkey ~ Barasoain Church
  5. E. Willems, The Netherlands ~ Barasoain Church
  6. Z. Khalid, Pakistan ~ Fort Santiago
  7. M. Sam, Malaysia ~ Rizal Park
  8. M. Szabia, Poland ~ Rizal Park
  9. K. Dovhopolo, Ukraine ~ Bohol
  10. S. Marger, USA ~ Barasoain Church
  11. M. Markhvinskij, Russian Federation ~ Fish Monger Papemelroti card

These are a bunch of official Postcrossing.com cards, as it has been ages since I sent cards through them. I still have a few direct swaps to finish and mail before this month ends, along with a number of Christmas that I will send to my friends overseas. I sure hope I can find the time to finish them all soon. Meanwhile, this mums will head on to check these coolĀ music instrument stores online.
