Bloggers Unite: A Fundraising Giveaway Event

As if a 7.2 magnitude earthquake last October wasn’t enough, the central region of the Philippines was hit by another disaster, a 295 kph typhoon on 08 November, 2013. Supertyphoon Yolanda (International name: Haiyan), one of the most powerful storms ever recorded, smashed the central part of the Philippines and left hundreds of millions of destroyed of properties, death toll at around 4000, and over 650,000 displaced survivors desperate for food and shelter among others.

Countries, NGO’s, and private individuals the world over all did their share in extending their help to those who needed it the most in the disaster-stricken areas of Visayas. Medical and rescue missions were set out to help the survivors and recover victims and bodies. In the same manner, relief operations were also set up to help bring food, water, clothing and temporary shelter to those who survived the onslaught of what is deemed as the strongest storm to ever hit our Planet.

As bloggers, we thought we could help these people by throwing this huge fundraising giveaway — a way we are all very familiar with. We have already raised $515 from this event and continuing to receive more donations through GoGetFunding.com. There will be a turnover of funds to a legitimate organizations that buys, repacks, and hands out relief goods directly to the victims. You can visit one of the host blogs for updates on the fund transfer in about a week or two.

Fundraising Giveaway Event for #TyphoonYolanda Survivors

Some of you may have heard the news that the Philippines was recently struck by Typhoon Yolanda {international name: Haiyan}, one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded, leaving the survivors empty-handed. The “apocalyptic” aftermath shows a horrifying scene of scattered debris from broken to completely destroyed houses, and dead people.

The government’s confirmed death toll was 1,774 early Tuesday, said Jose Lampe Cuisa Jr., the Philippine ambassador to the United States. The storm has injured 2,487 more, and displaced 660,000 people from their homes. Source: CNN

Being one of the fortunate ones that were spared from this devastating incident, we here at Life’s Cheap Thrills together with our friends at Bay Area Mommy, My Charmed Mom, Diva Fabulosa, and Hot Fun Stuff have decided to organize a giveaway event to raise funds for our fellow Filipinos that were affected. The support coming from different countries and organizations are overwhelming but these people are still far from recovery and they need more help to get through this tough time.

At the end of the giveaway, funds collected will be bank deposited to any of these three legitimate organizations:
