I guess it is now official, the NIDO Fortified Science Discovery Center is now on our list of the most interesting places to visit with your children. We’ve returned to the place a few weeks back + had a chance to observe stars + planets, an encounter with Lolong + met Ben10 face-to-face. Not only that we’ve also had the chance to brush up on our knowledge about Science + Technology, among others.

The Education Field Trip

The place is not only teeming with eye-popping installations + amazing displays, it s also chockful of educational exhibits that both mums + kiddos alike will learn a lot from. Here are a few of the things we discover:

  • We took the journey to track the history + evolution of technology + communication from its thousand-years-ago origin to what it is now + its latest innovations

  • We also took this Health + Science tour + were greeted with larger-than-life depictions of various main organs of the body + how they work
Meeting Lolong for the First Time

One of the surprises that awaits the NIDO Center visitors is the humongous life-size replica of the largest crocodile in captivity, Lolong. The meeting with the albeit-stationary replica is quite staggering in itself + I do not know how the experience with the real thing would be like! The little ones even got the chance to have their photos taken with the famous reptile, too!

Our 3D Experience

Our out-of-this-world 3D experience brought us face-to-face with stars, planets + other gaseous entities in outer space, as well as their mysterious origins. The less-than-one-hour show is truly engaging that even the little one was all-eyes + was sitting still on his seat in its entirety.

Meeting Ben10 + other Cartoon Network Characters

The little man watched one too many of Ben 10 episodes that left him enamored to this teen superhero + his alien friends + I guess you can tell that amongst all the parts of this whole experience, the close-up encounter with larger-than-life Ben 10 is actually the one he enjoyed the most! Read more about his experience here. I guess there really is something about these cartoon characters that keeps them interesting: they are colorful, fun to watch + really entertaining to look at! I am a big fan of cartoons, too, when I was younger + now that I am a mum, I get to watch a bunch with my little man, too! It is an activity we actually both enjoy. Cartoons are ageless + timeless, + if you’ll see these characters come to life in support of fun + educational places like the NIDO Fortified Science Discovery Center, then I am all for it! 😉

We’ve been waiting for this cool toy museum to open so I can tag along the little man + see the life size Lightning McQueen they have so you can probably imagine my delight when I found out that they will be open to the public for one day on 26 August! Unfortunately we have to be somewhere else the same day so I guess we just might have to wait for its formal opening next month.

I bet my little man will definitely enjoy the place, especially now that he’s getting to know more + more characters that can be found in this awesome toy museum, including Batman, Spiderman, Woody + Buzz, + the Incredibles! 🙂

I have always dreamed of bringing Jared abroad one day so he can see the life size McQueen in the US, but can you believe my luck? All I need now is to bring him to Las Piñas to see one! 😉
