new york city

official postcrossing.com cards, postcards, New York,

New York is probably one of the most fascinating cities in the world, not to mention one of the most colorful,  one I’d love to visit in this lifetime, too! I would love to check out the Statue of Liberty + the Rockefeller Center, visit Central Park + the the Bronx Zoo, or ride one of those world-famous yellow taxis or give the subway a try. I would also love to walk along Broadway + pray hard that I bump into one of my favorites, John Rzeznik, who lives somewhere in this street! I would also love to sample their bagels + hotdogs, along with an assortment of other street foods. I might also be included to walk past numerous metal detectors garrett + check out a number of the local shops! 😉

Oh well, that visit may not come in the next 5 years or so, that is why I am glad I got this postcard to cheer me up. This is another official Postcrossing.com card {with Postcard ID#: 714871}, which I got early this year.

Zaliya wrote this message for me:

postcard for a cause: baby melissa j

postcards, postcards for a cause

One of the things I absolutely love about postcrossing is being able to spread cheers + good tidings thru the postcards I sent in the mail. That is why I make it a point to send those smile cards whenever an opportunity comes. + come mailing day, I am sending another one to this little cutey, Melissa J. I am planning to send here a colorful Ati-atihan Festival postcard which I hope she will like!

4-year old Melissa is suffering from Non-Hodgkins Lymphona + I am sure it will help brighten her day if she receives a treat in the mail. You can  check out the rest of her profile here, or you can look for other little pals to send postcards to at postpals.co.uk or you can send your postcard to:

bulacan daily: today is bulacan’s 434th foundation day

Bulacan daily, occasions

By  virtue of Presidential Proclamation 443, signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr + based from The New Provincial Administrative Code of Bulacan, Chapter II, Section 14, Foundation Day and Section 27, The Provincial Legal Holidays, August 15 is declared by President Noynoy Aquino as a special non-working holiday in the province to commemorate Bulacan’s 434th Foundation Day.

Commemoration activities begins with a holy mass at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium at 7.30am followed by flower offerings to Gen. Gregorio Del Pilar’s monument headed by Gov. Willy Alvarado, Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando + members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan. Most government offices will be closed today in observance of this holiday, it’s a good thing that most private establishments, like the grocers or leather chair repair shops will be open as usual. I just don’t think most people will be encouraged to leave their homes, though, as the bad weather courtesy of Typhoon Helen started to manifest early this morning, too!

Bulacan was established on August 15, 1578 + has been part of the rich Philippine culture.  Our province is most well-known for our beloved heroes + historical personalities, including Marcelo H. Del Pilar, his nephew, Gen. Gregoria Del Pilar, National Artists Virgilio S. Almario, Francisca R. Aquino, Guillermo Tolentino + Levi Celerio. One of the most recognized symbols of our province is the Barasoain Church in Malolos City, which played a vital role in Philippine government + independence.

To the Province of Bulacan, Happy 434th Foundation Day! 🙂

let’s celebrate august {a giveaway!}

giveaways

Inspite of the recent catastrophe that struck the nation, I believe there are still numerous reasons to celebrate this month of August, including the people’s solidarity in times of disasters + the Filipino’s never-say-die spirit, as well as our never-ending desire + capacity to help out those who are in need, evident in the selfless rescuers’ aim to rescue as many people as they can + the volunteers’ goal to reach out to as many victims of the calamity as they possibly can.

I personally have so many reasons to celebrate this awesome month of August. I am celebrating the recent admission of Musings on Meanderings to Payu2blog, as well as the birth of my new blog, Mum Eats! Apart from that, August is also our birthday month + even our blog, Jared’s Little Corner, is celebrating its 2nd anniversary. I really am thankful for all the wonderful blessings + would love to share this with our dear readers in a little giveaway. I wish I can give each of you a trophy to show our appreciation! 😉
