It was a bit late and the whole place was blanketed with pitch blackness when we went to Camp John Hay during our trip to Baguio in November. What can I say, we were caught up with other places to visit there hardly isn’t enough time for each one of them. The only place we were able to see at John Hay was the log cabin-inspired Starbucks branch, where we had a quick late snack. It was a good thing we saw this place flickering with lights and activities amid the blacken November night. Turned out, it was the Baguio Country Club’s Christmas Village.
The little man absolutely enjoyed our time here and I am just glad we were able to do so, the efforts we put in going to John Hay was not wasted! 🙂 The queue to the entrance is quite long and we had to wait for a few minutes to get in. Slippers and flip flops are also also not allowed so I had to borrow my sister’s sandals as I’ve decided to meander that day in my reliable flip flops!
My brother accompanied me and the little man inside and of course, it also goes without saying that he will be the official photographer of this adventure, hence, you won’t find him in any of our shots. He was not too fond of them anyway!
As soon as we get in, the little man’s eyes grew big with wonder and awe at all the lovely and colorful installations. There were big makeshift houses, chimneys and mushrooms made from cardboard there are also a number of Christmas trees in different colors. It was amazing to find out that all the displays and installations here are made from recycled materials. I cannot imagine how many pre-used cardboard and plastic cups they used, as well as the number of deburring tools they needed to make all these beautiful things!
Nativity characters roam around the place and were also game enough to pose for a photo or two with guests. We had photos taken with huge gifts, the three kings and the lovely green fairies who reminded me so much of Tinkerbell! And did I mention the place is also white all over, as soap bubbles and ice are used to make for improvised snow?
For admission fees of P40 for adults and P10 for children 3 years old and below, I’d say this place is really a great find. My little man gamely posed on every nook and cranny until our camera went dead! He surely had a wonderful time and probably thought that the place is one giant Christmas playground, which, come to think of it, is what it is exactly!
The place will be open until 06 January 2013, so be sure to tag along your little ones and bring them to this Christmas-y place! 🙂

the Christmas Village was probably still close around that time, sis, + strawberries are normally in season around November. yeah, next time…:)
