beautiful birds stamps

For today’s Sunday Stamps, here are a number of bird stamps that I have received in my imaginary mailbox. The first set is sent from a direct swap with someone from Hong Kong for a number of cool Lightning McQeen and his gang postcards for the little man. The birds featured in these stamps include: scarlet minivet, collared owls, fork-tailed sun bird, white-bellied sea eagle. They all lovely won’t you agree?

The second set of birds stamps of green-winged pigeons is sent by a friend who went to Malaysia earlier this year and was gracious enough to send me a lovely postcard of the place.

The third set of stamps are also from Malaysia, which I got from a direct swap in one of our Postcrossing group, this comes with a beautiful postcard of the lovely buildings in the country.

Oh well, I hope you like all these birds stamp I share with you today. Will be back for more stamps next weekend. Happy postcrossing and have an equally enjoyable Sunday! ^_^

Postcrossing Philippines’ First Ever Meet-Up for 2013

destination, Rizal Park, Manila, postcrossing meet ups

the little man in front of our National Hero’s monument

Note: This has been sitting in my Drafts folder for the longest time. I shall be meeting my postcrosser friends next month so I was sort of inspired to post this today. Unfortunately, my hard drive is going bonkers and I cannot include most of the photos I took that day, except for these which I have rummaged through my files. Hopefully, my hard drive will be okay in no time so that I can update this post with more photos of what transpired that day.

Our group scheduled our first meet-up for this year on Saturday at the Rizal Park in Manila. It has been ages since I was last there and it was the little man’s first time to be there. Needless to say, apart from the EB, we did enjoy this park visit.

these are what i took home from this meet-up: two little booklets from the exhibit, a vintage Rizal Park postcard, a washi tape + this cool Tinkerbell shaped card from Japan! ♥

Our group found a shady silent vacant table at the Chess Park and thus the meet-up commenced. Some member bought some of their collections and I was really fascinated with these lovely shaped cards that Mommy Willa showed us. She also came bearing gifts from our generous members from Japan, Mommy Clang. I got a number of washi tapes, which I shared with fellow members Philip and Rence, as well as this beautiful Tinkerbell shaped card.

Later in the afternoon we trooped to our National Hero’s monument for a photo op. We also explored the rest of the park and the little man took this opportunity to check out the fountain in the middle, as well as the other part of the park.

The members also came with our traditional meet-up cards which we have signed by all the members in attendance. Lucky I got this Luneta cards in a National Bookstore branch we passed by on our way here. I shall be sending 9 of them to my postcrossing friends in a few days.

We even get to experience the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Festival as an added treat!

It was such a great experience catching up with fellow Postcrossing Philippines members. We even get to meet new members, Agatha and Abigail. Looking forward to our next meet-up guys!

Se-Tenant Stamps of The Master of Nets Garden, China

stamps, China, se-tenant

I got these cool Se-Tenant stamps of The Master-of-Nets Garden in Sozhou, China when we went to Rizal Park earlier this year for our very first Postcrosser Meet-up for 2013 {which I have yet to write about, sorry for the delay}. We were unaware that a Filipino-Chinese Friendship celebration was to be held later that afternoon in a secluded portion of the park and curious as we are we went on to check what the festivities is all about after our meet-up.

Se-Tenet stamps, by definition, by the way, are stamps or labels printed from the same plate and sheet and adjoin one another, unsevered in a strip or block. {according to Wikipedia}.

While checking the beautiful photo exhibit, we chanced upon these lovely leaflets which the others just passed by and ignored. I grabbed one and inspect the publication. And what did I see inserted in one of the pages of this Chinese hand-out? That is right, the lovely Se-Tenant stamp, so the rest of my group meant to grab one for themselves, too! I actually got an extra copy which I gave to a good postcrosser friend.

This is my entry for this week’s:

A Batch of New Postcards For Swap

postcards, postcrossing, Philippines

I was out a couple of weeks back to look for cleaning supplies and run some last-minute errands for the little man’s playschool birthday celebration when I chanced upon these postcards at a local bookstore. It has been awhile since I replenished my stocks and these cards are not yet in my collection so I thought of grabbing a couple of copies, besides I do not normally see these cards in the National Bookstore branches that I visit whenever I go out with my family. I know that some postcrossers were able to buy the same postcard types at cheaper price of Php1 each, but they are available in Manila and you need to buy them in bulk. Hopefully, I’d be able to visit that store one day, in the meantime, I will just content myself with getting a bunch of these at my local bookstore.

Included in this batch’s postcard haul are:

  • San Juanico Bridge
  • Mt. Arayat in Pampanga
  • Baguio City
  • Corregidor Island
  • Mayon Volcano in Albay

Do leave a comment here if you’d like to swap with any of the cards. I have yet to update my swap album on Facebook, but I will post an update here when I am done.
