A Self-made Postcard of Tinagba Festival in Iriga City

postcards, direct swaps, Iriga City, Philippines, special postcards

Here is another self-made card which I got from my swap mate from Iriga City, Sandra. She was the one who sent me the self-made card for Valentine’s, too.

The photos highlight the recently celebrated Tinagba Festival which was held every 11th of February in honor of the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Love the photos and they made me feel like I’ve seen the festival with my own two eyes. Thank you for this card Sandra!  😀

Haji Ali Mosque, India

postcards, India, direct swaps

I got this postcard from one of my 12.12.12 swaps last year. I find the mosque really interesting and a tad similar to this local one in Jolo which was built near the water.

Here’s what the back of the card says:

Haji Ali Mosque is the tomb of a Muslim saint who died while on pilgrimage to Mecca. It is believed that a casket containing his mortal remains floated and came to rest on a rocky bed in the sea, where devotees constructed the tomb and the whitewashed fairytale mosque.

And just check out the very lovely 12.12.12 cancellation the Indian Post made especially for the occasion! Cool, isn’t it? Thanks Amit for sending this one out! I will feature the beautiful Gandhi stamps in another post. 😉

Hopefully I’d be able to find more of these interesting postcards. I wish to get some myself so that I can have more cards to swap with others. When I go to the bookstore next, to rummage through books and search for award ribbon holders, perhaps, I will make sure to find more lovely postcards to add to my stash! 🙂

lovely anonymous postcards in envelope

postcards, direct swaps, Germany

Blick von der Bergstation, the monkey in the envelope, Dresden Um 1625 + Dresden UM 1650 {clockwise}

I received this anonymous envelope in March or April of this year. I simply love all the postcards inside, down to the cute monkey sticker that the sender placed in front, but apart from the Alstadt Regensburg Unesco Stamp there is nothing in this mail that will give me a clue as to who among my numerous swap mates sent it. When I googled the words written in the Post Office stamp, though, I got Briefzentrum 38 which actually stands for the Deutsche Post #38 found in Braunschweig. Still it does not ring a bell. + there is no way I can trace the address back to the person I’ve originally swapped with. I would’ve loved to know + give him or her proper credits!

Vienna 1, The State Opera

Oh well, let me just share with you the contents of this mysterious envelope, shall I? It has 4 lovely cards inside starting with this beautiful view of Vienna 1, The State Opera. According to the card, this opera house is known all over the world + was inaugurated in 1869. The other cards included in the package are: Blick von der Bergstation, with that impressive looking cable car, along with two vintage cards of Dresden Um 1625 + Dresden UM 1650.  I have no other information to share about these cards as no description are written in the back + what’s actually written is in German, which unfortunately I do not understand.

Anyhoo, I’d love to share the majestic view of Vienna 1 The State Opera to:

postcard perfect: malolos constitution

postcards, direct swaps, Malolos City, Bulacan, postcard perfect

I simply love this postcard I received yesterday as it features a historical event in my city ~ the Malolos Constitution, which was enacted by the Philippine Malolos Congress on 20 June, 1899. This paved the way to the establishment of the First Philippine Republic. Our city has really played a very vital role in our country’s rich history + needless to say I really feel proud to be living in this city! 😉

Another thing that’s so special about this card is that it is a postage prepaid postcard which means it can be sent to anywhere in the world without affixing postage stamps! Clever idea, right? I just wish I can look for this type of postcards locally so that I can send them to my swapmates all over the world, but, alas, local postcards are scarce around here + I really don’t know where to get them! 🙁

Thanks Annie for this beautiful card + for the sweet note you wrote at the back! I simply ♥ it! ^_^
