Postcards: Churches In The Philippines

I recently received this card from a postcrossing friend, Rence, that featured different Philippine churches. I just wish the multi-view mentioned their names as I do not recognize them.

The annotation at the back says:

Under centuries of Spanish influence, the Filipinos are predominantly Catholic as reflected by the many churches all over the island.

The postcard also has a beautiful stamp that features the Bantay Bell Tower found in Vigan, which was just released by Philpost. I sure hope it reaches our local post office very soon. Oh it even has the signatures of those who attended that postcrossing meet-up, including Robert Alejandro, a renowned artist and children’s book illustrator.

Thank you, as always, Rence for this lovely card. 😍

Gotochi Cards From Japan

It is always a joy to receive a postcard from Japan, so imagine my delight when I recently received yet another envelope from there from our friendly postman. This time, Mummy Clang sent me a gotochi card of Hokkaido and Miyagi, as well as a winter gotochi mailbox card. I love them all and am stoked to add them to my growing collection! 💖

Gotochi are colorful Japanese cards that represents symbols, like landscapes, dishes, or costumes of each prefecture. These cards are designed and distributed by the Japanese Postal System. They are very popular among postcrossers but they are also harder to find and quite more expensive than regular postcards. You can read more about gotochi in this Postcrossing.com post.

Mummy Clang also included this lovely clear book, where I am planning to store my gotochi collection. Thanks ever so much, Mummy Clang, for your thoughtfulness. Will make sure to send you something from the Philippines real soon! 😊

First Mail Day for 2017

I have been inactive with postcrossing for the past couple of months. The last time I went to the local post office was when I mailed a number of Christmas cards before 2016 ended. Now I am back to mail a couple of postcards and I cannot wait for them to reach their respective destinations and bring joy to their recipients.

These are all direct swaps as it has been ages since I was at postcrossing.com requesting for official cards to send. But since summer is here, I might have some free time to write more cards so I might just be requesting to send a bunch of cards very soon.

Here’s the list of cards I recently mailed:

  1. Mount Banahaw ~ M. Drnovsek, Slovenia
  2. Papemelroti Jeepney ~ D. Gonzales, NY
  3. Mayon Volcano ~ B. Matejkova, Czech Republic
  4. Christmas Postcard 2pcs ~ D. Gonzales, NY
  5. Christmas Postcard ~ L. Tobias, PH
  6. Christmas Postcard ~ F. Van Cleeff, Holland
  7. Philippine GF Card ~ E. Septhriani, Indonesia
  8. Christmas Postcard ~ R. Neehaul, Mauritius
  9. Phippine GF Card ~ K. Pribylova, Czech Republic
  10. Kesong Puti card ~ N. Harmoko, Indonesia

My Prize From A Postcrossing Giveaway Is Here!

Postcards and anything postcrossing-related is always a delight to receive in the mail!

I was lucky to win a giveaway in Postcrossing Philippines last month and it sure put a smile on my face whe I got to receive my prizes! Lookie! Some of these cards are blanked while some are used cards {official Postcrossing.com, in fact}. I love the cathedral card as well as the one from Japan. I also adore the big PH cards that include a couple of my favorites ~ tarsier of Bohol and Miag-ao Church of Iloilo {which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site}, which I shall be sharing with my sister {who is more addicted to postcrossing these days!}. I will also be sharing the University of Sto. Tomas cards to some members of our Facebook group. The package also included a pink clear folder for stashing postcards as well as 2 pieces of Miss World Megan Young stamps {Php30 denomination}, which will be handy when I send an envelope one of these days since I do not really collect stamps. I find it a joy to send them to postcrossing friends and put a smile on their faces! 🙂

Oh well, I am slacking in postcrossing these days and I am still contemplating whether I should request cards from Postcrossing.com or participate in an upcoming local swap in our group. I will try to decide after reading all about reason 7 MF.

How’s your postcrossing hobby so far and what lovely surprises did you receive from the mail lately? Do share in a comment below, right? 🙂
