I have been wanting a Tubbataha Reef postcard for my collection and a couple to swap with friends and fellow enthusiasts. Unfortunately, I was not able to stumble upon a bunch of these postcards in any of the bookstores I frequent. Luckily, one of my fellow Postcrossing Philippines members had a card to spare and agreed to swap with me.
According to Wikipedia, the Tubbataha Reef is an atoll coral reef and a National Marine Park located in Sulu Sea. The reefs are considered part of the island municipality of Cagayancillo, Palawan. It is a marine sanctuary protected as Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park. It was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in December 1993 and was also nominated for the New 7 Wonders of Nature. The reef got its name from two Samal words: tubba and taha, which means “a long reef exposed at low tide,” when put together.

I’m so drawn to the sea – photos of the sea or anything of sea related. I feel like it’s calming and calling me for some reason. I know it’s weird. It just feels that way, lol! So sweet of her to send you the card – just how you wished and wanted!
the sea is really one amazing thing to behold. i think i share your fascination. i just wish i know how to swim so that i can also explore the depths of the sea one day! 🙂
Palawan is one of the places that I am looking forward to visiting the next time I vacation in the Philippines.

Awe! That is one lovely postcard of the reef in Palawan. Mommy, I still haven’t been able to mail your postcards. I have a few and I am thinking I will have to mail them later because we will be on vacation to Yellowstone and possibly Utah so I want to buy some more to send to you. 🙂 And hopefully one from Wyoming.
Aside from the Tubbataha reef, there are so many wonderful sites to see in Palawan. My husband and I went island hopping there several years ago and we’ve been yearning to go back with kids.
